Holden Commodore Ute 1990-2016

While looking for information on my old Holden, I realised that data on original equipment and model specifications was hard to find. At the same time, photos documenting original Holden cars on the internet are rare. To this end, I have put together an image library of GM Holden cars from 1948 to the present day. VG Commodore Ute

By 1990 there was sufficient demand for Holden to start building utility vehicles again after a gap of over five years since the WB Holden ended production. 

The VG ute was built on a long wheelbase platform also used by the station wagon and the VQ Statesman variants. 

VP Commodore Ute

The utility model was updated in-line with updates to the Commodore sedan and the VP model began to use the same model designation as the sedan. 

VR Commodore Ute

The VR sedan was a major update to the styling and engineering so the front of the VR ute carries these updates but the back end of the bodywork looks the same as the previous models making it look somewhat dated.

VS Commodore Ute

VS Commode utes shared the same upgrades as the sedan models including a brand-new V6 engine and gearbox combinations and a small upgrade to power in the V8 model. This model soldiered on for another five years before finally being replaced by the all-new VU model.

VU Commodore Ute

With the release of the VT Holden Commodore, there was a desperate need to replace the almost ten year old utility model. When the VT was updated to the VX, Holden finally released a utility successor, the VU. Almost everything was changed to update it specifications closely matching the sedan including the independent rear-end which limited load capacity.

VY Commodore Ute

Introduced to update the utility with VY spec engineering...under construction... 

VZ Commodore Ute

Updated inline with the VZ Commodore sedan...under construction... 

VE Commodore Ute

Massive update again for the new platform...using the same LS2 V8 options as the sedan but on a long-wheelbase platform. 

VF Commodore Ute

Effectively the second chapter in the VE Commodore book, same engines but all new construction, interior and electronics...at the end of its run it got the mighty LS3 V8, the last of its kind.

Commodore Utility vehicles are no longer being made. A minutes silence please people.
