Bought her new when I got a PC support job back in the Nineties. The hours were real bad, so this was my way of blowing the cobwebs out...at least, that was the excuse I used at the time :-)

When the Yamaha Vmax was released, it was the most powerful motorcycle on the planet. In a market that traditionally releases new models every year, the Yamaha Vmax was made from 1987 until 2004 - so they must have done something right! Even though the handling was "strange" at best, the power in a straight line more than made up for it.

If ever there was a production bike set up for drag racing it was the Vmax. Since superceded by more powerful and better handling bikes, and not well understood by either the auto press nor the public, the Vmax still holds a place in history that for a while, placed it at the top of the performance curve.
